Composer Music Style
Conrad
Askland is a full time modern freelance music composer. "My
original goal was to score movies. I always thought this was the
most noble of all professions", says Askland.
Ironically,
he has built a career on creating "film score music" for
recording artists and corporate audio, but it's not necessarily
used for film. "My music is very popular with rappers and commercial
recording artists because it's a little on the heavy side, but doesn't
alienate the average listening audience", says Askland.
His early
music studies were at the UCLA School of Film Scoring, University
of Miami, Cornish Institute and Pacific Lutheran University. Early
influences were the great church music composers, especially Bach.
"Because Bach was Lutheran and I went to a Lutheran church,
I heard a LOT of Bach and German style music as a child. It was
the best thing that could have ever happened", says Askland.
In his youth he attended Saint Andrews Lutheran Church in Bellevue,
Washington.
